Tokens - often referred to as cryptocurrencies - can represent anything from an asset to an access right, such as gold, diamonds, a fraction of a Picasso painting or an entry ticket to a concert. Tokens could also be used to reward social media contributions, incentivize the reduction of CO2 emissions, or even ones attention for watching an ad. While it has become easy to create a token, which is collectively managed by a public Web3 infrastructure like a blockchain network, the understanding of how to apply these tokens is still vague.

The industry keeps referring to “Blockchain” as different from “Bitcoin,” creating an artificial divide that is often misleading. There seems to be too little understanding about the fact that Bitcoin is a blockchain network, which is (a) globally managed by people who mostly do not know each other, and (b) enabled by the consensus protocol that (c) incentivizes all network actors for their contributions with a native token. The governance rules are tied to the minting of a native blockchain token. The Bitcoin token can, therefore, be seen as the currency of a distributed Internet tribe, called the Bitcoin network, where network actors are rewarded with Bitcoins, just as the Ether is the currency of the distributed Internet tribe Ethereum network, or Sia is the native currency of the Sia network. ## What is a smart contract?

Smart contracts are the backbone of decentralized applications (DApps) and Web3. A smart contract is a simple program that lives on a blockchain network (such as Ethereum). They're actually not that smart. And nothing like a (legal) contract. They’re more like an executable piece of code that requires input or an trigger from an external source. Odds are you’ve heard about the Ethereum blockchain, whether or not you know what it is. It’s been in the news a lot lately, including the cover of some major magazines, but reading those articles can be like gibberish if you don’t have a foundation for what exactly Ethereum is. So what is it? In essence, a public database that keeps a permanent record of digital transactions. Importantly, this database doesn’t require any central authority to maintain and secure it. Instead it operates as a “trustless” transactional system — a framework in which individuals can make peer-to-peer transactions without needing to trust a third party OR one another.

Still confused? That’s where this post comes in. My aim is to explain how Ethereum functions at a technical level, without complex math or scary-looking formulas. Even if you’re not a programmer, I hope you’ll walk away with at least better grasp of the tech. If some parts are too technical and difficult to grok, that’s totally fine! There’s really no need to understand every little detail. I recommend just focusing on understanding things at a broad level.

The existing Fabric [`peer lifecycle chaincode`](https://hyperledger-fabric.readthedocs.io/en/latest/commands/peerlifecycle.html) CLI commands are implemented within the Fabric core codebase, and include all of the Fabric peer runtime. These administrative capabilities should be separated from the Fabric core and instead implemented as light-weight CLI commands based on the fabric-admin-sdk.

A previous attempt to decouple the CLI commands from the Fabric core can be found at [github.com/hyperledger/fabric-cli](https://github.com/hyperledger/fabric-cli). This is based on the legacy Go SDK, which is no longer supported and also carries more baggage than necessary to implement only the required admin capability.

I'm attempting to limit gas usage in a private network, but Besu seems not to honor `gasLimit` from genesis config, and instead increases gas limit up to the value configured for sepolia (`0x1c9c380`). I expect besu to keep `gasLimit` when no `--target-gas-limit` is set, but for some reason it does not work as expected.

## Description

There is some desire to build Lighthouse in a [_reproducible_ way](https://reproducible-builds.org/). Making Lighthouse reproducible means that two source builds of Lighthouse at the same commit and with the same toolchain would produce bit-identical binaries.

This issue is an umbrella issue to track progress towards this goal, and document cases where Lighthouse can already be built reproducibly.

## Working Reproducible Builds

- On my M1 Pro Mac, building Lighthouse twice in a row with `make reproducible` results in identical binaries.

## Failing Reproducible Builds

- On my x86_64 Linux desktop, building Lighthouse twice in a row under Cross (`make build-x86_64`) doesn't produce an identical binary.
- On my x86_64 Linux desktop, building Lighthouse twice in a row on the host (`make reproducible`) doesn't produce an identical binary.
- Building with Cross on our release builder also doesn't produce the same binary as one built locally with Cross.

## Steps to resolve

Unclear.

I have no idea why the Cross builds are more variable than the macOS builds, when one would naively expect the Docker image to provide a stable toolchain/etc. Perhaps the default Linux linker is more random by default than the macOS linker?

There is an implementation of EdDSA with Poseidon and BabyJubjub in TS/JS: https://github.com/privacy-scaling-explorations/zk-kit/tree/main/packages/eddsa-poseidon.

There is no EdDSA Poseidon (and BabyJubjub) implementation in Rust yet. Once the issue (https://github.com/privacy-scaling-explorations/zk-kit.rust/issues/9) is completed, there will be a crate for it on [zk-kit.rust](https://github.com/privacy-scaling-explorations/zk-kit.rust).

The idea of this issue is to compare the performance of this algorithm written in TS/JS and Rust (compiled to wasm) in Node.js and browser.

- Disabling all buttons until the API connection stabilizes

The coverage tracer currently deallocates and reallocates memory very frequently and potentially it is upwards of 24kb (the PC coverage tracker is the length of the code and EVM codesize checks are often disabled) per contract that is touched during a tx's execution. This design, in part, contributes to Medusa spending a lot of time in the GC runtime. Eliminating this overhead may increase the throughput of the fuzzer

We could explore each worker having a `sync.Pool` of  `bytes.Buffer`'s that are cleared and re-used, only allocating when the pool's fully used. I'm not sure if this approach would allow workers to be long-lived and not frequently restarted when the worker reset limit is reached.

As an aside, using edges instead of PC's may make this performance optimization necessary. ## Overview

Some Ethereum RPC provides usually don't allow more than `10_000` events per response. Because of that, setting a big value for `--relayer-log-page-size` may lead to a stuck synchronization with L1.

We need to teach the Relayer service to adjust the page size. 

## Definition of done
When the RPC provider returns an error that the response is too big, we need to decrease the page size automatically.

If we decreased the page size, and for some period of time we didn't have any error, we should try to increase it.

The increased page size shouldn't be more than `--relayer-log-page-size`.
